Enjoying The Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course In The Canadian Rockies
Hole # 3 – Gibraltor – Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course[/caption]
I can feel the excitement building inside as we drive over the Spray River bridge on our way to the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course. The golf course road winds its way through the last four holes of the Sulphur nine and I can’t help but play them in my mind as we drive by.
Even though I’ve had the pleasure of playing the Fairmont Banff Springs golf course since the early ‘90’s, I find myself to this day looking around as if I just discovered the property for the first time.
Teeing off and walking alongside Mount Rundle is simply breathtaking. By the time we arrive at the the third hole of the Stanley Thompson 18, aptly named Gibraltor, the tone that this will not be just another round of golf has been established. Next in the rotation is the Devil’s Cauldron, the fourth hole on the Rundle 9 is without doubt the most photographed hole in the Canadian Rockies. If golf would allow it, I’d pack a lunch and hit balls off the tee decks all day long!
