Top Golf Courses For A Weekend Getaway Near Calgary

One of my favourite things to do is gather a few of my golfing buddies and jump in the car for a quick weekend getaway from Calgary. The Columbia Valley often catches my attention for these adventures. There are some spectacular courses not far from Calgary that start whispering my name in the early spring. In just under 3 hours you can find yourself in the picturesque beauty of the Valley. 

  1. The Springs at Radium
  2. Radium Resort
  3. Eagle Ranch
  4. Greywolf
  5. Copper Point
  6. Fairmont Mountainside and Riverside
The Springs at Radium will not disappoint. With the Purcell mountains to the West and the Rockies to the East, this course is set high above the banks of The Columbia River. What more could you want! Just up the road, you will find the Radium Resort. Along with incredible views, this course is family-friendly, and affordable.  If you are looking for more challenging courses, just down the highway you can play Eagle Ranch or Greywolf. Not only do these courses have stunning views, but they also challenge you with dramatic elevation changes, ravines, and water features.  Another one of my favourites is Copper Point. It offers two 18 hole courses: The Point is longer and tougher than The Ridge, which makes for a nice variety of experiences if you play them both. The Mountainside and Riverside in Fairmont Hot Springs also offer 2 different experiences. As the names suggest, Mountainside is set along the slopes of the Rocky Mountains and offers plenty of elevation changes. Riverside crosses the Columbia River a total of six times, offering plenty of scenic water features. For some variety, why not play them both and cap off the trip with the Creekside par 3 course.  Needless to say, golfing in Columbia Valley is a perfect quick trip.
