Small Place, Big Taste: Radium
In a village the size of Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia, you may not expect to find very many dining options. Of course the last thing you want to do after a challenging round of golf at the Radium Resort is debate about what to have for dinner. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that this quaint village nestled between the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges offers a variety of restaurants with delicacies from around the world.
Here’s just a sample of what you’ll find:
Helna’s Stube Restaurant
If you’re looking for an elegant, yet casual dining experience, Helna’s Stube should be your first stop. Their menu specializes in cuisine from Austria and the surrounding area, includingGoulash soup, pork or veal Schnitzel and Kärntner Kasnudeln, a divine homemade ravioli filled with cream cheese and potatoes. Gluten free and children’s sized options are also available. The restaurant opens up just in time for Valentine’s Day each year and does take reservations, both online and over the phone.
Citadella is located at the Rocky Mountain Springs Lodge and is known in Radium for its spectacular sunset views from the balcony. It’s an ideal setting for a relaxing evening after a hot day of golfing and is open from Easter to Thanksgiving. Here you’ll find Hungarian specialties, such as Sauerbraten (beef tenderloin dish), Hortobagyi (meat filled crepes) and Hungarian Apricot dumplings for dessert. If you’re craving some classic Canadian cuisine, Citadella offers a variety of dishes highlighting BC salmon and Prime Alberta beef cuts.
CasaVino Wine Bar
No matter if you’re a wine aficionado or just enjoy a glass to end off a great day at the golf course, with over 100 varieties to choose from, CasaVino has the perfect bottle for you. Pair your wine with a delectable French, Irish or Dutch cheese plate, mouthwatering tapas including Moroccan Lamb Keftas or a scrumptious dessert like Dulce De Leche Cake (or good ‘ol Apple Pie!). CasaVino is open from Easter to Thanksgiving and besides the comfortable patio with mountain views, also offers a beautiful garden for your evening walk.
It’s a small place, but Radium has big taste!
