Toughest Holes on the Pacific Nine – Highland Pacific Golf Course

Certainly the tougher of the two nine-hole courses at the Highland Pacific, the Pacific portion features many of the same gorgeous views and sights as its sister nine-hole, the Highland. Why is the Pacific much tougher? Let’s find out.

Hole #1

No gentle opening for this hole–pay attention or you will lose the advantage. This challenging tee shot has water to the right and tall fescue to the left, which could muddle your chances at making it to the green! The green slopes back to front, so be a little conservative with your approach so you can make the uphill putt. A par here is just as rewarding as a birdie.

Hole #2

This par 3 gains its intimidating, defensive stance from the large water hazard in front of the green. Think about your club selection here. It tends to play one club shorter, due to the downhill tee shot, but be mindful of the wind. Favor the back of the green rather than the front.

Hole #4

As only par 5 on the Pacific side, it stands out. Not just because of its length, but because of the challenging play decisions you will need to make on the fly. Aim for the greenside rock off the tee. Here’s your choice: lay up to the water, or lay up the right side. The water will be risky, but laying up the right side allows for a shorter approach. Trouble will find you when you least expect it!

Hole #7

Uphill and severe, this par 4 is challenging even for the most skilled players. Keep it in play off the tee, and use a shorter iron on the approach. There’s a slope in the middle of the fairway–if you miss on your approach left or right, say goodbye to making par.]]>
