BC Golf Courses With Guaranteed Wildlife Sightseeing

If you’re a visitor to the Canadian Rockies, you might be surprised to find how the line between where the wildlife lives and where humans live becomes blurred. On a BC golf course, it’s often you’ll see deer poking around, apathetic to your presence. Here are some golf courses where you’re pretty much guaranteed to see some wildlife.

Radium Resort – The Springs Course – Radium, BC

The resort has stunning views by itself, but because many of the holes are lined with thick trees, you may get some friendly visitors. The deer here aren’t shy of players, and they will watch your performance as they relax on the grass. There are some tough holes here, especially on the back nine. You might have the best luck making friends with the gentle creatures on the holes 8, 13, and 16.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler – Whistler, BC

In the summer, you are likely to spot black bears at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler as they casually saunter around the grounds and surrounding wilderness, searching for something to eat and generally minding their own business. They will stroll on walkways and cycling paths and sometimes wander onto the golf course if it suits them. They leave players alone, but if you value your safety, it’s always a good idea to give them a wide berth (as you take pictures!) so they can continue on their way.

Golden Golf Club – Golden, BC

Not far from the Alberta-BC provincial border, the Golden Golf Club offers challenging golf, as well as an array of wildlife sightseeing opportunities. Bring your camera! You might see coyotes, deer, black bears, and eagles there. The untouched terrain adds to the experience as the wilderness was carefully preserved when the course was being created.]]>
